Foursquare has recently published their latest stats on their blog with 10 million users! What’s even more fascinating that it took Foursquare 5 months to get 100K users in 2009 but in 2011, it gained an extra 5 million users in 6 months even with Facebook introducing ‘Places’ late last year.

Some interesting ones that I thought was pretty cool were:

• 6.230 Sake bars in Japan & 1,105 Beer Halls in Germany
• More than 78K Mayors are ousted everyday
• 1,061 Birth Announcements on Hospital check-in’s
• 6 to 1 ration on happy “yay” shouts  to not-so-happy “urg” shouts..Happy people aren’t we?

Foursquare is a location based app that makes exploring your city easier and alot of more interesting. Users can use a function call "check-in" to share their location with friends while collecting badges and share tips for a venue.
