One of the more popular games to land on Apple’s iOS platform has finally seen the light of day on Google’s Android platform, Temple Run originally slated for release at the beginning of February was pushed back to late March due to a few slight problems.

Now that it’s been released on Google Play (for free as well) it has become a hit all over again.

Featuring the same basic premise as it’s iOS counterpart, the same upgrades and a smoother experience Temple Run is a must download for your Android device

If you’ve had a chance to have a go at the game then you won’t notice anything different apart from the larger playing field eg: 4.3 inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy S II or 5.3 inch of the Samsung GALAXY Note to name a few.

This in total allows you to have a broader view of the terrain, giving you that split second to swipe left instead of right seeing as it could be the better direction to go for securing those extra coins and more points to be your old score.

During each run you’ll collect coins which allow you to purchase upgrades for your character to garner an even larger score and then ultimately brag to your friends about whos the best.

These kind of in-game objectives create a great incentive to keep the player invested in the long run.

The more objectives you complete the higher your score multiplier increases meaning the bigger score you’ll receiving for running a longer distance.

I found myself solely trying to complete objectives just to increase my multiplayer, because I knew in the starting stages of the game I wasn’t going to his 2,000,000+ at all.

Upon collecting enough coins you can upgrade the in game power ups which consist of:

• Coin Magnet (attract coins to the player with out having to collect them manually)
• Mega Coin (Gives you a one off amount of coins)
• Boost (Much like the Flash your character will run a certain distance turning without you needing to control him)
• Coin Values (Multiplies the points coins gives you after certain metres run)
• Invisibility (Allows you to run over gaps and through obstacles)

Upgrading these will gives you the chance you run further whilst at the same time increasing your overall score, and giving you the edge in beating your close friends.

On top of the upgrades you can also purchase new characters to control whilst escaping the demon monkeys or resurrection wings which give you a second chance to continue that run in achieving an extremely high score.

Graphically the game is exactly like the iOS version, it runs smooth, sounds great, responds to every swipe with pin point accuracy and loads extremely fast.

If you’ve been waiting for this game ever since it was announced then you won’t be disappointed in the Android version.

Final Thoughts:

Having spent countless hours playing Temple Run on our demo iPhone 4S in store I would’ve thought that I’d be over the novelty of this simple game, oh how wrong I was.

After downloading it for Google Play I feel in love with it all over again and am currently trying to better my score with every chance that I get.

The game runs smooth on my Samsung Galaxy S II and I am yet to encounter any issues, and for the price of $0.00 there is no absolutely no excuse to NOT have this game on your Android ready to play at your earliest convenience.

What I Liked:

• Extremely easy learning curve
• Fast loading times
• No cost to download

What I Didn’t Like:

• Small variety of unlockables
• No local/global leaderboards
