Battery Saving Tips for your iPhone

With more and more features coming to the iPhone, we take the time to find out where we can start saving some battery life in the iPhone 4 and 3G/S.

Believe it or not it is quite simple.

Like anyone that has an iPhone, I tend to find that I’m running out of battery life half way through the working day.

From my experiences I’ve put together some simple methods in finding that extra bit of battery life.

Close the apps properly!

Since the introduction of multitasking in iOS 4.0, some by contrast don’t know how to properly close the apps.

Why? Free applications downloaded from the app store that have advertisement can still be running in the background (better to be safe and also not to have any bill shock)

To properly close applications double tap the home key

This will bring up the multitasking menu.

Tap and Hold an application in the menu to bring up the editing screen.

Tap the minus to close any apps that are not being used.

Keep closing all of them until nothing is left.

Once Complete Tap the Home key to end the editing screen.

Know What Notifications are needed

Notifications are handy if I want to know what is going on in my world of games, Facebook, Twitter and many more. Figure out which ones are needed and turn the rest of them off.

What about location services?

Well Location services are actually pretty good if using a GPS Navigation app like Tom-tom Australia or Facebook (Check-ins).

Yet can put more battery life usage whilst using that particular app.

Turn off location services for apps that are not requiring it(If required turn this back on)

Fetching an Email from the email server

It’s well known that fetching an email from the server the least amount of times can improve battery life.

My Suggestions is Hourly for anyone that requires emails during the day or manually if required once in a while (it’s like login into the server on the desktop computer just without the hassle of typing an email and password all the time).

What about push email?

Push email are when emails, calendar updates and contacts are sent directly to the iPhone within seconds of the server receiving the new mail, calendar request or update to new contact.

Most of email servers actually don’t support this unless Microsoft Exchange Server or a similar technology has been activated on the server.

Display Brightness, Turn it down!

From Experience, the display brightness can use up to 50% and above of the battery life when the iPhone is on. Auto Brightness can be useful yet not 100% required all the time.

Still not helping?

Perform a restore on the iPhone, reason behind it is that the software has become corrupt and only a few options are left one of them is a restore on the iPhone.

My Battery life is still short what happens now?
