Cool mobile phone app – Who2Call

Ever needed to know who your mates were on so you could fully take advantage of your free calls? Well, Vodafone/3 just created this cool mobile phone app called Who2Call which is designed to let you know who from your mobile phone’s contact list is on Vodafone or 3.

How does it work?
Who2Call emulates the look and feel of customers’ existing contacts applications and, once downloaded, automatically synchronises all stored contacts into a new list. Who2Call automatically adds either a Vodafone or 3 logo next to those friends, family and work colleagues who are Vodafone or 3 customers. Customers can dial out directly from the Who2Call app and new contacts are automatically added to the customer’s personal Who2Call application.

Why get this?
“Who2Call is a simple innovation that makes it really easy to see exactly which of your contacts are on the Vodafone and 3 networks,” said Doug Maloney, General Manager Innovation and New Business at Vodafone Hutchison Australia. “It puts the power of free on-net calls to almost 6 million people in the hands of our customers, and is a great example of how the merger between Vodafone and 3 is bringing real benefits to Australian consumers."

Is the Who2Call app free?
Yes, the Who2Call application is free to download and use.

Where to download
Simply send the keyword who2call in an SMS to 191 991 if you’re on the Vodafone network and 332 211 if you’re on 3.

The app is compatible for Apple® iPhone™ and Android™ users.

Hey what about Nokia and all the other phones seeming that you sell more then what your always designing your apps for. I am getting very disappointed with Vodafone shutting everybody out like this

    @ Michael

Because developing for the nokia has an extremely high priced entry point, with amazingly crippled functionality.

When Nokia can compete with the Apple and Android market and can build a decent Phone OS, maybe then Vodafone will start making apps for them.

Her we have a company that has a presence in alot of overseas market, not just here in Aust., and they develop for the I can understand(is growing in popularity everywhere), and the Iphone(which is has lost alot of support, weather justified or not), but the Nokia isn’t supported????
    I must question that decision.

The question needs to be asked, was this campaign funded by apple for prospective iphone customers…? If not, then it clearly wasn’t a thought out marketing plan..

I think this is a great idea, but as a loyal Vodafone customer and a Nokia user, I’m a pretty disappointed that once again, because I don’t have a “smart phone” I don’t feel like a valued customer.

So, if you buy a $1000 phone, you can find out who is cheaper to call.

Why not just have a lookup available on the Vodafone web site so that everyone can get this information, no matter what phone they have?

So for anyone who isn’t a sucker for apple’s marketing on the iPhone, and isn’t fussed over the android OS, we are screwed over and don’t get this nice app. THANKS VODAFONE. I think I will buy my next NOKIA handset from ONE OF YOUR COMPETITORS.

This is very poor that all major systems (Nokia N97 Mini) is not supported! Rather strange and off the mark business analysis!!! Nothing like this behaviour to alienate customers.

Vodafone, you need to make the Who2Call application on the Java platform!

Maybe iPhone haters should try it before they bag it. I always had a Nokia prior to my iPhone and pure functionality alone will never see me return to a Nokia. Each to their own.

This app seems useful in principle. Problem is all 3 Vodafone numbers I enter give msg ‘this is not a Vodafone number’ rendering it completely useless :( No good to apple or non-apple device purchasers

Great app guys – keep up the good work!

PS – C’mon guys – Nokia/symbian had its day in the 90′s is yesterday, it is dramatically cheaper and easier to develop for Android.

If you keep complaining like this then Vodafone wont bother developing great apps like this at all…

    @Adam says:

the problem is i didn’t buy my nokia in the 90′s i bought it recently. from three. maybe i made the wrong choice buying a NEW phone with an archaic OS. but that doesn’t detract from the fact that nokia/blackberry users are made to feel undervalued.

PLEASE PLEASE, a version for Symbian/Nokia!!! To all the Nokia knockers: Yes, Symbian is a bit dated, but it is still a current product, and there are a hell of a lot of Symbian phones out there. Sure, Nokia’s market share is reducing, but it is still selling almost twice as many smartphones as Apple.
