HTC 7 Trophy – MCR3 Software Update

Update 17/09/12

We have now been advised that this update will not be rolling out to Vodafone customers globally. This is due to a critical WiFi issue identified during testing in an overseas market.

We expect the fix for this issue to be included in a future update but do not have any information on delivery timeframes.

Update 25/07/12

We are pleased to confirm the Windows Phone 7.5 MCR3 software updates for the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy are scheduled to begin rolling out from 26th July 2012.

The release of the updates will not be throttled.

From 3:00am AEST, 28th June 2012 – Microsoft began rolling out the Mango Commercial Refresh 3 software update for the HTC 7 Trophy.

This is a point release and will primarily fix bugs, address stability issues and add some new features. Some interface elements have changed, but your day to day experience with your phone will broadly remain the same.

Full details of the changes in this update including technical details are available in this support article.

Roll out Schedule

The update will be rolled out progressively, so not everybody will be able to update immediately. The update will be released to devices, randomly, according to the following schedule:

  • Day 1-6: Available to 10% of devices
  • Day 7-20: Available to 25% of devices
  • Day 21: Available to 40% of devices
  • Day 22: Available to 60% of devices
  • Day 23: Available to 80% of devices
  • Day 24: Available to 100% of devices

Where to now?

How many seconds are you waiting? I’ve successfully done it before but can’t do it this time.

cant tell, but try between 5-8 seconds.
try several and see how long does it usually take you to get the notice, for example if it is 8 seconds, then try discon on the 4th-5th second.
also note that my radar is purchased from oversea, not vodafone.

Hi Jay and others, we’re aware of the current delays in delivering the Windows Phone MCR3 update affecting the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC 7 Trophy. We’re working with Microsoft, HTC and Nokia to understand more and resolve the delay and we’ll keep you up to date as news comes through.

Hi Raiden, the information outlined in these articles only apply to handset sold by Vodafone in Australia. I’d recommend getting in touch with Verizon for the latest information related to updates for your handset.

So this rollout starting today, does that mean everyone will get it in the next couple of days or will it be the original 24 day rollout starting today?

Still no love if it was 100% deployment or only 2 days left If it’s running on the original schedule… I’m hopeful I’ll get it!!
Then again, I’m also hopeful I’ll get reception at home… one day…

            On a more serious note:
            Has the deployment been successful?
Does the fact that I’m not getting it mean that I should be calling support?
Or is there still a delay/problem with this 2nd deployment?

            Thanks,
            Matt

Is there any chance you can provide an outline of what the Wi-Fi issue was for the HTC 7 Trophy and where the issue was encountered? This is strictly a curious question since the HTC Trophy in the US has been running Windows Phone 7.5 Tango for some time now.

Hi Max, the HTC 7 Trophy released in the US is the CDMA variant and runs a different software build than the GSM variant we sell. It was discovered as part of Vodafone testing conducted at our global test house in Europe. I’m afraid I can’t be any more specific than that.
