HTC EVO 3D – Android 4.0.3 Update

From 1:00pm, 7th August 2012 – HTC will begin rolling out the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform upgrade for EVO 3D handsets sold by Vodafone in Australia.

This is a platform upgrade and will introduce a number of new features and enhancements. Some menu items have moved and the user interface has been refreshed.

This update is available via HTC’s Firmware over-the-air (FOTA) platform, so you do not need a PC to complete the upgrade.

Hi Julian, if you have your information backed up already that’s probably the best place to start.

successfully updated here too, but it was a bit of a painful exercise.

required two or three more reboots than the setup routine did.

didn’t have any mobile network access until I rebooted.

had to delete and recopy my music before it would play properly.

simple file copying to and from the microSD card seems slower in ICS compared with GB

Hi Glenn, best way to think of a major platform upgrade is like putting your phone through major surgery. It can sometimes take a few hours and reboots to recover from the ordeal it’s just gone through. I hope your experience is smooth-sailing from here on!

Yep, used it on my Car Stereo this morning, did notice that it wasn’t connected to begin with but just told the Stereo to connect and it did.

+1 bluetooth works fine on my phone and car stereo.

as with Leon, I had to tell it to connect the first time, but since then, have had automatic connection.

    Does anyone have this problem?
After the update, my phone’s battery wouldn’t last for more than few hours a day. Also, the automatic brightness setting seems to be a bit too high compared to the previous release, which I reckon is mostly responsible for the battery drain out.

Also, does anyone know how to restore this new update if you have installed a custom ROM? I have two Evo’s and one of them is my dev phone but I forgot to take nandroid backup and now I cannot install back the official ROM.

      Any help is appreciated.

      Cheers,
      A.

Hi A., if you’re facing significant battery drain I’d recommend booking your device in for service.
