Hi everyone,
Please to announce that the Android 2.3.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S will be available from 12PM AEST on Friday September 9, 2011.

How can I get this update for my Samsung Galaxy S?

You can update your Samsung Galaxy S using Samsung KIES and following the instructions

How big is the file size?

The file size for the Android 2.3 update on the Samsung Galaxy S is approximately 400MB

Just to note:

• The update is available free of charge, however it will require internet connection on your PC to download and install the new update via Samsung Kies
• You’ll need to back up all mobile phone data via Samsung Kies before performing the upgrade
• It’s recommended that you have a full battery when upgrading

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your patience, sorry for the inconvenience this original post may have caused. The firmware version I9000XXJVO which we approved will not be available due to an internal issue with Samsung.

Samsung is currently working on a new and improved firmware release and in conjunction with us, will bring a new version to the market as a maintenance release. 

Sincere apologies to any Samsung Galaxy S owners using the 3 variant, there was a communication mistake regarding the software update. Unfortunately, we are yet to test the firmware for 3 and are waiting for Samsung to provide us the right firmware for testing

No ETA has been set when Samsung will release this new version, but please check back on Samsung Kies and our Vodafone blog for further updates.

Firstly, thank you for your extreme patience regarding the Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ update.

We know a lot of people have been asking us on our previous post – Testing for Android 2.3 Gingerbread on specific mobile phones and on our Vodafone Community forum when Android 2.3.3 ‘Gingerbread’ for the Samsung Galaxy S would be available.

We are pleased to say that the new version of software (I9100TDUKF4) has passed our internal testing process and is now available for Vodafone & 3 customers via Samsung Keis.

How do I get Android 2.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S?

Step 1: Connect your smartphone with your computer, it should auto-start with Samsung Kies (if it doesn’t, just open that application on your computer)
Step 2: Follow the prompts to update your Samsung Kies on your computer
Step 3: Once installed, Samsung Kies auto-detect a new firmware is available for your Samsung Galaxy S
Step 4: Follow the instructions on your computer to install the new software for Android 2.3.3 on your Samsung Galaxy S
