Tuenti – An exclusive network in Spain

I’ve been looking at this social networking site for a while now, and I’m really interested in this ‘Spanish Facebook’ site called ‘Tuenti’ (pronounce: twenty).

Tuenti is the 2nd largest social networking site in Spain with 9.2M users in Jan 2011. About 60% of it’s users come back to the site on a daily basis spending on average of 80 minutes with 20BN Page views a month

The uniqueness of Tuenti

The site is invitation only, and each user only has 10 invite to send to their friends. The site was found in 2006 by a group of friends and it’s actually owned by a Telco in Spain.

Tuenti is best known for its sleek and easy to user interface, and has great privacy features. The login screen is beautiful.

The profiles are simple and remind me of the old Facebook days but cleaner

It offers the standard features you’ll likely to find in other social networking sites news feed, photo updates and wall posts and etc.

One key element that Tuenti excel better than a lot of other social networking sites is privacy. Tuenti has very tight security on search engines and with its ‘invite only’ registeration, it means that ‘What happens in Tuenti, stays on Tuenti’.  This is particularly important since the average user on Tuenti is 23yrs old and female.

Mobile Experience:

Tuenti also has 2 really great mobile apps for the iPhone and Android.

The app offers functionalities like text messaging, check-in to places, and a great photo viewing experience.

I often feel special when I get invited into ‘beta testing’, or ‘exclusive invites’ on the interwebs. And usually when I can’t get invites, I’d hop on ebay and buy myself some invites from my fellow geeks.

Unfortunately, this is not World of Warcraft, and it seems like no one would really sell their friendships online.

If anyone has an invite to ‘Tuenti’, please leave a comment below. I’m really keen to go check it out, and I just may repay the favour with some Vodafone love.

      Hi Gustikayi,

Sorry for the delay, David’s been MIA for a while. I’ll pass on your details to him :)

      Thanks for the invite mate.
