      Hi Wangyi,

The $3 gives you unlimited Skype to Skype voice calls and instant messaging without affecting your included data you may have on your rate plan. Thus giving you more data to use on other stuff

    Hello

I am looking to download vodafone central on my HTC Desire HD… I need to do this to download “Skype for Vodafone”. When I sent the text msg, I received a link but when I click on it, it takes me to dl.music.three.com.au and it says that the link does not exist…

I called customer service and then did not know how to fix it… they want me to master reset my phone which is very strange. Why would I master reset my phone where I will lose all my apps which I have downloaded.

Please advise how camn i download skype on vodafone… i have tried i.vodafone.com.au but that does not have skype in it..

    Thank You

      Hi Saket,

Send through the WAP settings to your phone found on the Vodafone home page, this will fix all issues with not being able to download Skype, alternatively you can enter the settings in manually.

      Go though these steps,
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > Select menu and add a new APN.
      Only enter these settings:
      Name: VF Live!
      APN: live.vodafone.com
      Proxy: 10.202.2.60
      Port: 8080
      APN type: default
      REMEMBER: Save these settings

Now retry downloading Skype on Vodafone

      Cheers

        Hi Sunny,

It seems you have the incorrect APN settings and need to update their device. The APN settings you’re is trying to use below are for Android handsets only. This is incorrect and you’ll need to use the Nokia settings to provision the n97.

For Nokia, it is automated from the website at the following url :

        http://vodafone.com.au/help/devices/ota-settings/index.htm

Pick the manufacture / model and the settings will be SMS’d to the handset.

Once you n97 is successfully provisioned, you will need to TXT ‘Skype’ 12 66 12 once again to receive the updated page link where the app can be downloaded.

        Cheers

    Couple of Qs
    1) If II want to use SKYPE through a WiFi network is it a different app, or a different setting in Skype?
    2) The automatic SMS response to the HTC Salsa cannot be ‘followed’, the only way is to copy and paste the link into a browser. The browser then says the link does not exist. As you have a Salsa, give it a go.

      Hi Phil,

Sorry for the long delay, just got word from our product manager
      1) The Skype on Vodafone app is a 3G only. Associated data usage is free when signed up to a qualifying Skype on Vodafone pack. You can download the generic Skype client which will work with WIFI and is available through most app stores, but that would incur normal data charges

      2) Apologies for this, there was an issue with our short code system. This is now fixed. You will need to resent the SMS request to receive an updated download url.

But I am sorry to say this app is pretty disappointing, unfortunately I signed up for the 12 month internet pack so I have to pay for the next year! Skype on 3 was much better. 1. Skype on Vodafone does not keep you signed in unless you have the app open which is not practical at all. 2. Reception is bad!

It is a great App when it works (connection errors etc etc).

It also does seem to take a long time for messages to go back and forth and every time i return to the home screen it seems to shut off the connection only re-establishing itself when you open up the Skype for Vodafone application.

Did Vodafone look at the standard Skype App that you can download on the App Market?
It is a much better and smoother application lookswise and performance. Is it possible for the development team in Vodafone to do something about the functionality and appearance and make it more inline with what exists already.

We are paying money for this app so you would think it would at least be the same as the application you can download for Free directly from the Market. The standard App also allows Video Calling. Again i dont understand why with a paid version (and i understand that one gets unlimited calling, this is what we pay the additional subscription for) you are not allowed to use all the features of the original version and the paid version is just a old version look alike.

    Come on Vodafone!!!

    Cheers Paul

Excuse after excuse with 3 and Vodafone – let’s say I’m not impressed. What’s going on????? Things definitely changed when Microsoft took over SKYPE.
3 and Vodafone say there is nothing they can do – it’s all SKYPE’s fault! I am inconvenienced all the time. I’m told come over to Vodafone and things will be better (you are supposed to be the same company) ….I will pay the $3 and I am already with 3 – but can you guarantee that SKYPE will work and not give the false impression that I’m online and I’m not? hi Andrew / other vodafone executive

I have a Samsung Nexus S and subscribed to the Vodafone unlimited skype-to-skype pack. I tried texting the word ‘skype’ to 126612 and got a link http://vfau.mobi/skype but when i try to click on this link it says server not available, but i can browse and open other websites from my mobile data plan. Also i tried to manually got thru the website and in particular this link http://i.vodafone.com/VFFind/Tools/SkypeDownload BUT again it gives an error. Also while being directed on this link …. i could see briefly that there was some link like three.com.au but then again it would redirect to vodafone and then again to three and finally nothing. When i try manually to do the same using m.vodafone.com.au i can see a link to some apps but within that apps i do not find ‘Skype’ at all. Finally i tried the following links as well to no success. i.vodafone.com.au/off/android/Apps.html and i.vodafone.com.au/off/android/Apps/Skype.html

The customer support team has no clue and they try to tell me that though the handset is definitely skype compatible but the vodafone live or vodafone central is not compatible. This i find it strange to understand and requested to send me the android 2.3 (gingerbread) compatible Skype application (.exe file) by email or upload somewhere whereby i can download …. but they have zero clue as to how can anyone send an application by email and needs to be downloaded only through vodafone central via the handset …

I’m really frustrated and feel let down as no one seems to have any answer to this issue while all i need is the skype application so that i can then install it on my handset.

Just sent a text to 126612 but did not get a text back..

I’m on the “classic pack member” mobile internet pack which includes unlimited skype

If I don’t get a text back soon, should I just download the “skype for vodafone” app from the android market (and incur the data charges when I download it…but I might wait for the vodafone text so you can shout me the download I suppose…waiting…)

BTW – if I’m in Australia and call a skype phone or PC overseas that’s ok isn’t?

      Hi John,
Have you received a confirmation text for your Internet Pack as yet? Was it Skype you were trying to obtain? Click the below link for a step by step guide for your android phone: http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3802/

You are also able to call any user on Skype with this pack :)

Please let me know if you need any further information!

      Cheers,

    Hi Vodafone Australia,

It turns out i didn’t text the work skype in quotation marks ie. “skype”

Once i did that I got a return text.

Next issue is when I clicked on the link http://vfau.co/skype

…it takes me to this webpage http://three.net.au/VFFind/Tools/SkypeDownload (that ain’t Vodafone Central)

…this webpage tells me sorry your handset is not compatible for Skype on Vodafone (but the Nexus is compatible)

Why was I sent to this 3 page, and perhaps it can’t recognise my device properly

Hi Andrea, the official Skype app is available from iTunes and can be used with iPhones. However the Skype pack that we offer is not compatible with iPhones. A list of compatible handsets is here
Since it will be using your regular data allowance, you might need extra data. Info about that can be found here
      Thanks, Anthony

    Hi
Pays $3 for subscription to use Skpy. Do I have sign up a plan for using Skpy? At the moment, I have taken a $29 plan for my phone. If I subscribe to use Skpy, then the $3 will be added to my bill or pay separately?

Can I subscribe to use Skpy for a month?

    Regards,

“Unlimitted Skype” is not available any more on the 12 month mobile internet packs any more, as it has been until last month.
Any chance on getting it back?
If seen it still is part of the monthly packs, but those are far over-sprized…

But I can use the network mobile to access facebook and other website, but cant use the skype. And some time the skype asked me to sign up when i log in with my existing account. It worked quite well before but got problem form last night. Hope to hear from you soon. thanks.

Just a heads up to anybody thinking of using this – Don’t bother.

While the program is functional(barely), you have about a 1 in 20 chance to actually sign in each time you try to sign in, giving various and misleading error messages, I bought my phone specifically for this app, and would not recommend this to anyone until the excessive issues are solved. Personally, I’d be happy if it could reliably sign in and not randomly re-direct incoming skype calls, but I still wouldn’t recommend it.

Very very disappointing, did you use a team of illiterate squirrels to write this app for you?

Unfortunately the Skype on Vodafone app isn’t available for iPhones. You can download the generic app on iTunes, however using the service will incur regurlar data charges.

Unlimited Skype on Vodafone use is not included as Skype on Vodafone is no longer available. You are still able to use the generic Skype app, however using the application will incur data charges.
