UPDATE

Hi,

I’ve read through all the comments and questions below and I wanted to reassure you that customer information is not publicly available on the internet and credit card details are encrypted and secure.

We are investigating what appears to be unlawful access of our systems in which login details may have been improperly shared. This means a person may have had access to view some customer details.

This is a breach of Vodafone’s IT security policies and will be thoroughly investigated. We have reset all passwords, and will continue to reset passwords to our systems every 24 hours and are reviewing our IT processes and training.

Any unauthorised access to customer information is taken very seriously and dealt with as such – it constitutes a breach of employment or dealer agreements and possibly a criminal offence.

We’re committed to ensuring that any potential breach of our security is investigated to the fullest extent and we are cooperating with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Yours sincerely,

Cormac Hodgkinson
Director of Customer Service and Experience

You may have seen recent media reports in relation to customer information – please be assured that Vodafone takes customer information and data security extremely seriously. Customer information is not ‘publicly available on the internet’.

Customer information is stored on Vodafone’s internal systems and accessed via a secure web portal, accessible to authorised employees and dealers via a secure login and password.

Yours sincerely,

Cormac Hodgkinson
